1873 Launched for Birkenhead - Valparaiso service.   June 18 : Maiden voyage.   Cost £105,750.
1879 Transferred to Orient Line management and placed on Australia run
1880 Apr 14 : final voyage to Australia; reverted to Valparaiso service
1889 Collided in the Straits of Magellan with the German steamer "Olympia".   Beached, careened and repaired there and then.
Apr 15 : refloated but struck another rock and sank.   All 202 aboard were saved being rescued by "Setos" of Kosmos Line, Germany
